We are pleased to announce that after a comprehensive national search for a new chief medical officer, we extended an offer to Nishant Anand, MD, FACEP.
Dr. Anand will start at BayCare on Oct. 22.
He comes to us from Adventist Health System where he served as senior vice president, chief transformation officer and chief medical officer of its population health services organization.
Before Adventist, Dr. Anand served as senior vice president at Memorial Hermann Health System in Texas and chief medical officer for Banner Health Network in Arizona.
Dr. Anand received his medical degree from the Mayo Medical School in Minnesota and completed his residency training in emergency medicine at the Stanford/Kaiser Emergency Medicine Program.
I am looking forward to welcoming Dr. Anand, his wife and three young children to the BayCare family. Dr. Anand enjoys running, reading, coaching his children's soccer teams and spending time with family at the beach.
As BayCare's new chief medical officer and executive vice president, Dr. Anand will be responsible for leading our physician agenda and directing our efforts to improve quality, safety and efficiency of clinical care across the system. He also will be responsible for leading BayCare Physician Partners, our clinically integrated network and accountable care organization.
Dr. Anand's experience and skills made him the clear choice for this role. He is a recognized leader in population health, which I think is critical to our future success. He came across during the interviews as a great fit with our values, our culture and our goals.
I want to thank everyone who worked on the national search. They did a great job helping us find top candidates.
I also want to thank Dr. Bruce Flareau, our current chief medical officer and executive vice president. As you may recall, we announced in April that Dr. Flareau will move to a new position focused on creating the BayCare Physician Leadership Institute. Dr. Flareau will continue to help us ensure a smooth transition and will move full time to his new position when Dr. Anand starts at BayCare.
As I've said before, our top priority in BayCare is achieving clinical excellence in every setting, and we know we can't get there without physicians engaged and aligned with us every step of the way.
I am looking forward to this new chapter with Dr. Anand and Dr. Flareau, and I thank you for your continued support.
